1ICT was founded in 2018 on more than a decade of experience within South Africa's enterprise ICT and telecommunications sector. Beginning in 2009, our founder's professional journey developed across complex environments at MTN and Telkom, where technology operations were required to support large user communities, business-critical services and geographically distributed infrastructure.
Working within these environments provided first-hand exposure to what effective technology leadership looks like at scale: disciplined service management, documented processes, executive accountability, strong governance and an uncompromising focus on operational continuity.
It also revealed an important market gap. Many growing businesses, public institutions, schools and non-profit organisations depend on technology just as heavily as large corporates, yet often do not have access to the same standards of service, security and strategic guidance.
1ICT was established to close that gap.
We bring enterprise operating discipline to the mid-market without introducing unnecessary complexity or enterprise-level cost structures. Our clients receive structured service management, documented delivery, security by design and direct access to experienced professionals who understand both the technology environment and the commercial realities surrounding it.
What began as an ICT solutions and equipment business has evolved into an integrated managed technology partner. Today, 1ICT delivers cloud services, Microsoft 365, cybersecurity, connectivity, unified communications, infrastructure and field support through a single accountable service model.
Our approach is deliberately different. We do not operate as a distant vendor, and we do not treat client environments as a collection of unrelated products. We work with executives and operational leaders to understand organisational priorities, identify technology risks and build secure, scalable platforms that support growth, resilience and long-term value creation.
That same conviction informs our flagship 2030 by 2030 Digital Labs Initiative. In February 2026, 1ICT commissioned its first AI Digital Lab at Phefeni Senior Secondary School in Soweto, in partnership with Microsoft South Africa. The project demonstrated that a South African, Black-owned technology business can deliver enterprise-grade infrastructure while creating meaningful social and economic impact.
For us, commercial success and national development are not competing objectives. They belong within the same business strategy.
Today, 1ICT serves organisations across the private, public and non-profit sectors. Whether supporting a corporate environment, modernising an institution or expanding access to digital infrastructure, our commitment remains the same: accountable leadership, disciplined execution and technology that produces measurable organisational outcomes.
